Personally I wouldn't be caught dead with a 5 1/2 ' bed, but I can see the reasoning for it.

As far as your original question.......I can only tell you that Ford has a ton of incentives right now. I believe I got over a half dozen when I got my truck last week. It may be your best time.

Good Luck with whatever you do.

I second (third, fourth, fifth etc...) the SuperCrew. I leased (thankfully) a Supercab and loved the truck, except the d@mn rear doors made me miserable! Trying to get anything out of the backseat while parked next to another vehicle is an exercise in futility, unless you are a contortionist. I bought my '18 in Supercrew and now I have the perfect truck! I did like the 6' bed, but it's not a huge deal as I don't haul a lot. I have a utility trailer for anything large, anyway.

It should be noted I only have a single little one so parents with a bunch of kids will likely think differently.
Yeah OP said kids plural, with just one you can at least put them on the passenger side so it's not your back their feet are in here sooner rather than later

Yeah, putting kids in the backseat makes the prospect of a tiny cab (SCABs loaded with kids and their stuff are tiny) or a 157" WB (probably wouldn't even fit in a lot of our garages, and then there's parking everywhere else) seem like a raw deal compared just having a 5.5' bed. It's still more payload area out back than an SUV, more payload weight capacity, and a lower price...and it's still a truck not an SUV...and that second row seat is at least as large if not even larger than the SUV's...lots of pros...lots of reasons there are soooo many crew half ton trucks on the road these days

Thanks everyone for you input. I appreciate all the info about the screws they are very nice trucks. Pick-up people have so much pride in their trucks its great. Just as a personal opinion I like the supercab, I know its not as practical as a people mover but I like the 6.5' bed and the sleek look. Again 100% just my opinion. This will be my second scab I only have two kids, its not going to be the primary family mover, just for the times a year we need it fishing/camping trips with the kids ect..

That being said, back to the pricing info.. I spoke with a different dealer today who quoted me $38,100 from the start..$750 cheaper out the door than the first place I spoke to. Doesn't seem real anxious to deal more than that. Both dealers state "were already at invoice price minus rebates." I didn't press them that hard just trying to feel them out. Wondering if they'll be more willing to deal at the end of the month or is all that end of the month talk folklore?

Invoice price isn't what the truck actually costs them, and Ford rebates are not anything the dealer is doing/don't factor into dealer discount.

The end of a month probably isn't a big deal usually, maybe if you get lucky and are looking at the right truck at the right time and being stubborn enough you might get lucky...seems more likely end of a quarter though. Unless they already hit their number for the month/quota and don't get into another bracket or get any special incentive for another unit moved in which case it might be harder for you to deal lol

Here, have fun, see you in a few hours

A dealer that is meeting its monthly quota will not need to deal so hard at the end of a month. A dealer who has not met that quota will be much more willing to deal. I would think if you were working multiple dealers, at the end of the month, you may spot the good deal.

See if you can find a high volume dealer in your area. I believe you can do better on the price. If the truck has set on the lot too long the dealer will be paying to keep it on the lot and have less to negotiate.
