Default Vibration

Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and I'm looking for some help/advise. About a month ago I bought a 2018 F150 SCREW 5.0 6.5' box 4x4 with 25k miles. I drove 650 miles to get it and on the drive home I noticed a slight vibration above 60 mph. I feel it in the driver seat, slightly in the steering wheel, and even my driver and rear view mirrors are vibrating. I figured it was a wheel balance issue. I put new wheels and tires on it and, still, the issue persists. Did a little research and most say its awheel balance issue but others say it could be an alignment issue or even the torque converter? I bought it CPO and would like to avoid paying the diagnostic fee. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've also seen people say it could be the following as well:

Drive shaft
U-joint(s)

Mine had a slight vibration around 80 and new tires and an alignment fixed it. Make sure your shop uses a high speed balancer (Hunter RoadForce).

Default Driveline Vibration

I had the same issue several years back at 50,000 miles on my 2016 F150 SCREW 6.5' bed. Wound up being the carrier bearing in the driveshaft which isn't serviceable so I opted for a new driveshaft from Fort Wayne Clutch and Driveline which has a serviceable carrier bearing.

It's been over 4 years and 38,000 miles and I'm still vibration free.

I have a question: When installing the new two piece DS, where did you position the center carrier housing? There is probably 1/8 - 1/4 inch of play side to side with the bolts.

Same exact issue on my 2017 with 6.5 bed. Service mgr said it’s the rear drive shaft and Ford is well aware of the problem. He installed a new rear driveshaft almost a year ago and I’ve had ZERO vibration since. It’s been smooth driving and towing my flatbed trailer with Kubota onboard weighing around 9000 lbs.

Seems I'm having the same issue at high speed with my 2017 f150 5.0. Do you usually replace the rear only or both the front and rear? Is there anyway to know for sure it's the drive shaft that's unbalance?

Looking at rock auto for the parts and there are some to choose from. Thanks

1STtimer.... I don't recall there being that much play in the mounting holes of the new carrier bearing housing. If anything I believe I tried to center the mounting holes around the bolts but again there wasn't much play.

Ibra0078.... My problem wasn't with the driveshaft being out of balance, it was the center or carrier bearing between the 2 driveshafts going bad. This bearing is not replaceable on OEM Ford driveshafts so that's why I opted to purchase the aftermarket one from Fort Wayne Clutch and Driveline.

So your replace the entire driveshaft then?
