Default vibration

Hello everyone, my truck (2015 xlt supercab sport) has developed a vibration. I feel it most in the steering wheel, but also in the gas pedal and shifter. I took it to the dealership and they told me it was because it is a truck with a high gvw. They said it was nothing they could do. I build, install and calibrate process equipment and can tell just by putting my Hand on the equipment if something is not adjusted correctly and if there is a vibration that should not be. What I am feeling is out of place. It is there at all speeds and with all road conditions. It is at its worst in the first 30 minutes of driving and at around 50 mph. Has anyone else experienced this ? Any help would be appreciated. Also how do I proceed with the dealership. I am a little frustrated warped dashboard, warped spacer between bumper and grill now this. Thanks again for whatever help you guys can give.

Well...it seems like there's a few different vibration issues out there. There are a couple of threads that deal with intermittent vibration through the gas pedal at certain RPMs. A lot of people seem to have it around 2000-2200 rpms. All the people in those threads have a 4x4 as well so the assumption is it's a transfer case issue. However I haven't seen many complaints of vibes in the steering wheel so yours might be something different. For those of us in the other threads, Ford does not acknowledge an issue. "They all do that" is what we've been told. Yay!

Go to a tire specialty store like Discount Tire not Ford and have them road force balance your tires to the tightest specs.

I was feeling a slight vibration in the steering wheel at times. My dealer had a Hunter Road Force machine, they balanced the wheels and everything is fine now. If it were me I would check with the dealer first to see if they have a Hunter Road Force machine and have them do it for me. That way they cover the cost. Having 4 tires road force balanced is around 100 or so.

Thanks for that , really do not want to spend that for something the dealership should try to fix.

Check your driveshaft angle. Mine was out from factory and experienced a very similar vibration/shudder. I measured my pinion angle (where driveshaft meets diff input yoke) and it was almost straight! The u-joint needs angles to work properly. Shimmed my rear end down 2 degree's. Smooth as glass after! Just something to look into. I tried swapping 2 x different sets of wheels and tires and it never changed. When you are driving, get to the point where it vibrates the worst. Put transmission in neutral and see if the vibration changes, lessens, or goes away. If it does go away or lessen, you sir have a drive train issue. Possibly the same one I had. One more thing to try.

Thanks, doc. I tried it yesterday. It lessens but is still there. I am going to it back to the dealership and make them test it. The last time they only drove it and said it was all normal.

Well since it lessens it might be pinion angle. Just like mine.
