V8 fans, would you buy a new (lot truck) 2019 5.0?
*If your preference was a V8* would you buy a current 2019 5.0 off a dealer lot, or take the ecoboost under the presumption that major mechanical concerns are less likely (with more stock power as a bonus)

Less power stock*, more torque. As of now I wouldn’t buy a Ford. Oil consumption on 5.0s and phaser failures on ecoboosts. I believe both engines for the most part are solid however.
As of now I’d do a GMC Denali if I were to do a half ton. |

If you just take peak HP, then yeah V8 has 395 and 3.5 has 375 and 2.7L even less But the EB has higher towing and is faster with an extra 70 lb feet of torque and better low and mid range so Denalis are out of the budget I'm pretty sure (get A plan on the F150 and it wouldn't be a plat). A new Laramie might not be |
I have a 2018 xlt 4x4 ( my '' good truck '' )with the oil burning 5.0 litre.
I just replaced my old work beater chevy with a 2018 xl bare bones 2wd. It has the 3.3 litre n/a v6 , runs great and plenty of power . When I trade the 5.0 in, I will try to find an xlt or a highly optioned xl with the 3.3 litre n/a engine, I should have done that in the first place. The little n/a six has enough power to get you all the speeding tickets you can pay, is a no cost option AND comes paired to the ZF designed 6 speed tranny, which in my opinion is just about the slickest automatic ever built. I will miss the V8 sound , but I will not miss the whining, shrieking, clunking 10 speed . |

Nope, I would avoid it all together.
There's gotta be 8 threads on ecoboost start up engine rattle (timing chain) The new 5.0s also rattle, burn oil Whats left? 2.7? Seems to me the 3.0 diesel is the least problematic right now...who knew? I'm turned off by Ford. If I had to do it all over again I'd get the diesel. Or a GMC Denali |
I'd want to know why the 10-12 week delay on ordering a 2019 5.0 F150 before I bought one off the lot. Not sure how you could find that info out?
