Thank you for all of the information here. So if I already have the remote 1 way start on my 2017 does anyone have a link for what I need to get to add this to my truck?

Sync Connect uses FordPass app.

Ford Remote Access requires the addition of 2 modules, activation on the truck (can be done with FORScan), and to be turned on by the dealer that sold the module (they do this remotely). This provides cellular access.

You do NOT need any type of remote start, 1 way or 2 way, to add this. If you already have 1 way or 2 way remote start, then you can skip the "activation on truck" step.

Ford was supposed to release a Sync Connect like feature for installation on vehicles that did not come with the option, including older years (basically replacing Ford Remote Access), this past summer, but did not.
Just to clarify, if you already have remote start on the truck then you don't need to do anything with forscan.

That's what the bolded section above states...

If "this" means cellular remote start, i.e. Ford Remote Access (you also asked about 2-way), then you need to add two modules to your truck, the VSS (Vehicle Security System) and the Remote Access RMU module. VSS gives you a vibration alert alarm system, and is required for Remote Access to work (it plugs into the VSS which plugs into your OBD II port).

There are several vendors on the site selling the modules you need, you've actually posted in the thread of one of them AND asked him for a price, so why are you asking again? https://www.f150forum.com/f37/ford-p...6/#post5478268

I have a 2016 f150 lariat, it has a 2 way remote start with sync 3. But doing some research the feature to remote start the truck from the "ford pass app" is only available for 2017 f150's and newer... Has anyone been able to get it to work on their 2016 lariat? I don't see why it wouldn't work, being that it's practically the same truck... Thanks for the help.

Don't know where you are looking, but FordPass can be added to older trucks. It is a few hundred dollars plus a few hundred a year. Ford Remote Start is $49.99 per year... However, parts might be hard to find.
