Upgrade Sync 3 V3.0 to V3.4 instructions
#341
Got my hands on the files before the links were taken down - had a hunch that might happen, so I made sure to scoop them up.
My truck is 800 miles from going out of warranty, so I'm keen on doing the upgrade since I have no warranty to violate.
Somebody on here mentioned that after going this route, we will no longer receive any software updates. Is this true? And if so, what are the long term thoughts to keep it up to date?
Are there any other drawbacks? Aside from the "might brick your system" obvious one....
Just trying to make an informed decision. Thanks!

Keeping tabs on certain other forums (or, hopefully, someone like Airborne_Ape will drop some knowledge when new releases come out) will likely keep you updated well ahead of whatever Ford will send you anyway.

The thing is, it is very doubtful that Ford is going to release any updates for us, past 3.0, as they say that our APIMs are not compatible with anything any higher.

It's not that you wouldn't ever receive any updates after going to 3.4, you *may* be able to update further than that, once other software is released if it is compatible with your APIM.

Does the truck know the difference between USB 2.0 and 3.0 ? Will SYNC make use of the additional available speed?

Has anyone done the update from 3.0 to 3.4? I'm thinking about doing it in my wife's Fusion. I just updated it from 2.2 to 3.0 but she is stuck on 1 15 maps and the maps site doesn't have an update available for her.

"ENH_DAB = 1U5T-14G658-AE.tar.gz" is what I have at the end of my reformat.lst file, along with the 1U5T-14G658-AE.tar.gz file in my SyncMyRide folder, and I have Sirius logos for all my stations. What that does, I don't know but it was included with the steps I followed, for what it's worth.
