Default Upgrade Sync 3 to Sync 4?

Who will be the first mod guru to tackle this question? I am curious to know if the upgrade can be done on an 8" Sync 3 display with navigation.

I really want Sync 4, but I don't think parts are available. I'm about ready to offer a bounty for the first person that gets it working properly.

I'm sure it will happen much like 2 to 3 provided there isnt anything too significantly different form factor wise with the APIM and screen. I havent paid much attention so I dont know if that's the case with the sync4 components...but if each piece will both mount and connect physically and made to interact properly on the bus whether natively or with some forscan tricks or something, I dont see why not. I highly doubt any upgrade to 4 on the older sync3 hardware is going to happen though. Maybe someone might manage it, but I doubt it would ever have reasonably full functionality or performance.

Hello all, new to forum.

From what I’ve heard and read around, highly doubtful this will happen. 3 & 4 run on different softwares or something like that. 3 wouldn’t be able to support.

Again, I’ve heard and read!

I'm no expert, but I do know one ironclad factor; and that is the SYNC3 module cannot be made to run SYNC4. It'll require a module swap.

I expect a new APIM, but more interested if this is a plug and play option with APIM and new USB hub. Ford has already announced that it can run on a display as small as 8" and up to 15.5".

new super duty gets the big screen on higher trims and the dash looks same as 15-20 F150s.

IMO, it looks very out of place with the extra width. I have a 2021 XLT loaner right now that has the 12" screen and it honestly looks out of place in the new interior as well. I think what would have fit the 13th gen better would have been a vertical 12" screen that resembles what some of the aftermarket android radios do.

Honestly, the 12" screen as it sits right now isn't really being utilized very well. I spend 90% of my time in Android Auto and you can't expand it to full screen. There is always a side bar with different info being displayed that is a distraction as well as the top and bottom bars being permanently displayed. I would much prefer if you could "full screen" AA like you can with the stock nav tab. I would guesstimate that the AA screen area isn't much bigger than the 8" we currently have in the 13th gen.

I would only want Sync 4 for the improved performance but I don't see myself going through the effort of trying to swap the bigger screen.

Yeah, I suspect form factor is going to be the biggest issue. There's no 13th Gen equivalent bezel to fit the 12" screen.
Someone else mentioned the 2022 SuperDuty, but that also appears to have a new center stack (note the ridge under the Sync screen).

That's not the '22 super duty. That's the 14th gen.

This is the SD with a 12" screen

However, it looks like the dash comes up higher where the buttons are above the screen.
