Welp ... I tried to buy said 2019 XLT. Test drove it three times. First time, shook like a mother. Sales guy sent to service, all tires re-balanced. Second test drive, still shook just the same. Sales guy sent back to service, they said it had three bad tires and replaced (why was this not done first time in service?). Third test drive, much better but still shook. Told sales guy to have a nice day as he was not willing to get fourth tire replaced. Worst part was sales guy swore to me each time it was smooth and fixed when telling me to come back to dealership. I hate having my time wasted.

My 2016 with 30k miles on it and tires that have never been balanced since purchasing drives 100x smoother. Only other thing I can think of is I have Michelin LTX M/S2 tires, which are street oriented. New truck had Goodyear Wrangler AT tires. Prob aren't quite as buttery smooth, but should not be shaking truck. My wife, self-admitting she is not technical or super detail oriented, immediately noticed the shake of the 2019.

Oh well ... maybe it was a sign for my indecision ;-)

Nah, wasn't the tires- I have had M/S2's on my last truck and Wrangler AT's on this one, and on blacktop you can't feel anything. Something was up with that rig.

I am thinking about upgrading to 2019 XLT 302A with 3.5EB. The specific things gained from this upgrade are: second gen 3.5EB (10hp / 50torque gain), 10spd trans, 4x4, trailer brake controller, 36gal fuel tank. Everything else remains effectively same.

I live in FL so 4x4 is not required for 99% of what I do but I have been in a handful of situations where RWD has left me in precarious situations (e.g. steep gravel roads in GA mtns). I do have a locker, which has helped.

I guess specifically, I am mostly concerned about 2nd gen 3.5EB and the newer 10spd trans. In searching the forum, there appears to be some issues, but not sure how widespread they really are. The whole "Ford sells millions of these, only the handful of issues arise / get forum attention" thing could be at play here. Any thoughts / concerns on the new engine and trans? I have had ZERO issues with current truck, hate to risk getting new truck with issues.

Thanks!
I have the exact truck you want but an '18. Just about 5300 miles and flawless so far and with a tune it's a beast.

I agree, except I'd wait 2 years because I don't want to buy the first model year of a new design.

Same here. Couldn't find a 502A SE without a moonroof.

I would say go for it. If there is issue, new car should be on warranty. I saw a bunch of stuffs posted here about issue but don’t let it deter you . I didn’t even know this forum until I buy my 19 f150
