Default Updating SYNC 3

Hey all,

2016 f150... SYNC 3 never been updated (currently version 1.0). Tried updating via ford website with no luck. Called ford customer service they say that the SYNC update/download portion of their website has been down for weeks now. The guy on the phone then offered that I try to do auto update via connecting to a Wifi network. I tried that today and truck doesn't find any updates. I called my local ford dealer and they want $118 to update... I feel like I'm getting screwed here because this is supposed to be a free service ford offers. Wondering if anyone has a solution or has encountered same issue?

TIA

Update over WIFI does not work ( Ford support admitted that to me) I had to download the files to a USB stick (as described on the ford owner website) and update the truck that way. That worked well for me....but i think others have had problems.
If Ford are saying the files cannot be downloaded I would insist that they get a dealership if your choice to update it free of charge or mail you a USB stick with the files.....seems fair to me.

i agree. I conveniently take a trip to the dealer in the morning for some warranty repairs I’ll be sure to raise holy hell about it as a free add on!

You have an 18 the OP has a 16 at Ver 1.0. It will not work from that low of a Ver. over WiFi

Update:

went to stealership yesterday and they advised I give ford a call. Ford put me through the ringer, took a bunch or pointless information and eventually said this issue would be pushed up the chain to their senior business team and they would get back to me in 3-5 business days. I’m hoping they end up agreeing to pay the dealer fee for the update!
