Trailer jack
I have a single axle, a-frame landscape trailer. My current trailer jack just broke and since I am looking for a new one, I was hoping to find one that was low enough that it would not punch a hole through the tailgate if it accidentally dropped while the trailer was attached. Aside from hearing about people on here that have their tailgate release on its own sometimes... I am more concerned with me hitting the extra digit on the keypad and having it drop before I can get to it. Even the side winder models seem to be tall enough to contact the tailgate. Has anyone found one that only extends above the trailer a-frame by 10" or less? Bets I found was a Pro-series side winder... 12" height... I could get a new hitch and drop the trailer another inch or two... but I'd prefer not to... it is just about level on the current hitch.
My other option is to add safety strap inside bed to keep tailgate from dropping... but not sure where on tailgate I would attach it... AND I have a roll up cover that all access goes through tail gate, so I would need to leave it rolled up whenever trailer is attached...
This would be SO much easier if we just had the ability in a setting menu to keep the tailgate from dropping while trailer is attached, unless a person presses the tailgate button directly.

The problem is that the part sticking above the frame is basically equal to the length of available lift. If it was only 10" or so inches it would not likely provide enough lift to get it off the ball. If possible the best bet is to move the jack farther back on the frame if there's room to clear the tail gate in the down position.
