Default Trailer hitch lock recommendation

I am looking for recommendations for a trailer hitch lock that is rated for 12k lbs or greater. If the truck I am ordering can pull it with the class IV, no reason to have a weak link in the mix.

Amazon shows a lot of locks but rarely shows ratings. Largest I found was 10k lbs.

Links appreciated.

Thanks...

are you talking about a pin lock for the receiver hitch? If so, there is no need to worry about it. If you have an event where there is enough force to literally shear a solid steel pin that holds the receiver in; you, the truck, and the trailer have all ready been obliterated.

Heres is a link to some shear strengths of steel dowels.

I see your point. 1/2" or 5/8" shear is at least double the max tow weight.

I just ordered this one, so waiting for it:

I liked it was almost symmetrical, and not with a huge lock on one side, and a tiny stop at the other. And it's 'heavy duty', so probably as strong as it gets. As mentioned, it'd be the absolute last thing to fail, so if it does, we'd probably see it fail while rising to heaven, or plunging to hell. Ha ha. And I ordred this ball mount kit, which was the highest rated I found (7,500 lbs):

Was between this one and a Curt, but the latter had a lot of complains of too much banging, meaning smaller than it should be. So rolled the dice on that largely unknown brand thinking they'd want to do things better than their competition to make a name for themselves, so we'll see. They've always had too much slop for my tastes, but will report when I get it. Somebody reported spraying the tube with a rubber undercoating (similar to plastidip, I guess, but with a different name) and inserting it while liquid, and let it set. It'd be stuck to remove, but after banging it with a mallet and forcing it out, the fellow reported that even when it was reinserted, no more banging/rattling. If I get too annoyed by it, might do it. Just forgot to order a bag, so I'm going to order this one:

I've got the Bolt trailer lock, which pairs to your truck key so once less key to worry about.

Pair with B&W Tow and Stow hitch

I have hitch locks permanently installed for hooks or D-rings on 3 of my vehicles.
One thing i'd recommend is to get a 100% stainless hitch lock.
The cheap chrome plated ones or with other coatings rust out quickly.
