Good point. Check to see if the trailer has electric brakes to begin with. You could be worrying about something for nothing.

Tasca is a ford oem parts dealer, so it fits 100% as it's the same part you'd get if you had bought it from the factory.

Looking at this one posted on ebay, you remove the empty plastic thing in that location and the connector is plugged in the back. Plug it into the TBC and snap it into the same slot. Use FORScan to enable it.
