Default traction control

So my 2018 has traction control...what is traction control and more importantly why is there a button to disable it.
If its a feature why would you want to turn it off
Thanks

It limits wheel spin to help maintain control of the vehicle in adverse conditions, or at least that is its intent. There are certain situations where you need to be able to spin the tires a bit (off road or deep snow for instance) and hitting the button will allow for more whee spin, but unfortunately unless you are in 4 lo there is no way to completely disable it even with the button.

Wonder if its like the tc on my challenger. If you hold it for 10 seconds it chimes and turns off. Allegedly that 100% off opposed to just pushing and letting it go. Idk just throwing it out there. I'll try it

I just bought my truck but believe reading if you push the button momentarily it just disengages traction control, Hold the button for something like 5 secs it disables the traction and stability control. If you put it in 4WD low it disables both of them as well as roll stability control

It is easier to do burnouts with it turned off.😁

Explained beginning on page 223 of your manual, followed by the closely related Stability Control.

The manual contains a lot of useful information about your truck.

Don't overestimate the ability of traction control on these trucks. Too much aggressive throttle on wet roads will still result in spinning around during a turn. It is best to act as though there IS no traction control and drive accordingly. These are not land rovers.
