Default TPMS Problem when switching back

2016 SCREW 5.0L.

Before winter I purchased a set of aftermarket wheels and tires, but purchased geniune Ford TPMS from YATESPERFORMANCE as recommended on here.

2015-2017 F-150 Genuine Ford 315MHZ TPMS Sensors Set of 4 w/ Programmer Tool

The tires programmed in no problem - all was perfect. Now i'm trying to switch back to my summers (Factory tires), and neither programmer tool I got with the new sensors, nor the "air pressure" trick worked. Tried it a few times, drove for 5 minutes to wake them up - still no dice?

Anyone had this issue?

Could take a longer time than 5mins to reawake/register sensors....and you are cycling 4ways 3times on/off to bring to learn mode on center dash display...

Make sure the set you took off is out of range when programming (if they're not already).

Can't be in the bed of the truck or stacked in the garage relatively close. Mine are within about 15 feet and that's too close. I head over to the park.

When I did it, I had to leave the "coming off" wheels at home and drive about 4 miles with the new wheels. Then pop, the new wheel's PSI magically appeared.

You guys nailed it

drove half way to work noticed my pressures started just showing on their own.

funny thing was - I was able to then resync the tpms using the tool - the weird thing was the pressures on the screen updated but it appears like it detected the tire swap on its own - even though it was a different set and on a different corner

When you say the system is self learning on 2015+ models, are you saying there is no need for the learning tool? I'm looking to install a new set of 18" wheels on my 2016 (came with 17") for summer use. I'll be swapping back and forth between the two sets. Any thoughts?

Same question, when you swap tire, you drive for a bit and the new ones show up? I assume you then have to do the deflate tire trick to tell it what is where?

Early TPMS system has everyone "programmed" into thinking they need a tool to make it work, but sometime around 2012-2013, they became self-programming (at least for Ford). Even my 2013 Mustang has self-learning TPMS.
