i have a 2017 Ford F-150 FX4 XL and i am trying to put turn signal mirrors on it but i am trying to find out if anyone has done the swap? If so what was needed ? Were the pins the same ? If they arent is there a plug and play kit for it ?
i read another post about this on this forum site but they didnt really specify much. I am looking for regular turn signal mirrors not extended mirrors, so i want a OEM look but with turn signals.

now i know what the questions were asked in the other forum.
I would like for all the functions to work such as HEATED , POWER FOLDING , TURN SIGNAL FUNCTION, and i really dont care about the turn signal being on as DTR (day time running lights) if they do then they do, if they dont then they dont.

if i want all those functions to work do i have to add to the existing harness?
or is there some that are plug and play?

please excuse my lack of knowledge for this but i hope yall are more than willing to provide a answer and thank you ahead of time.

 

Plug and play for all those functions except power folding (that requires a new wiring harness) IF you have a rear defroster (otherwise you need to add the rear defrost button to your dash to activate the heated mirror function).

 

You will have heat only if you have a rear defroster. Otherwise, you will not. Turn signals will be there as well as power upper glass. You will not have the front markers though. I tied in the front marker lights with the rear firing signals so the front and rear flash amber when turning.

You would use the basic 8 to 22 pin adapter that comes with a lot of the after last mirrors.

 

There is a harness adapter for 8 pin to 22 pin on amazon.
will that make it work like the OEM automatic folding and heated turn mirrors ?

 

They will not power fold as the XL trucks do not come wired for that feature. And heat will only work if you have a rear defrost.

The 8 to 22 pin allows you to plug in the mirrors. All that will
work without running extras wires will be power glass and rear turn signals.

I have a 2017 XL-STX and these are the mirrors that I put on my truck. It seems to be exactly what you are looking for. I did not have heated mirrors prior but I do now, which was an added bonus as I really just wanted the power folding. I am an ASE certified mechanic of many, many years and will worn you that the install is going to take you some time! Chris, The adding of a new side mirror is quick there is videos on you tube . What it did not clearly explain is the wiring to accommodate the 22 pin requirement your base line XL Is probably an 8 pin . The new mirrors are 22 pin modding is done by some kits or in this forum there are many available PDF that explain well. One way that I did was go to the dealer to replace the door harnesses at 120 each The door modules 50 each door . The mirrors price check unless you can find them in Facebook marketplace or a junk yard. The fun will come with Forscan that program to enable fold and that's where I am at ....Good luck
