When I open my door at night to get out, and lock the door..obviously all lights should go off inside the truck. I'd say like 30% of the time my sync screen stays on, but does black.
The whole thing is very glitchy to be honest. Ford logo isn't consistent in the way it comes on and off..etc.
Here is a picture what I'm talking about though...I've been out of my truck for 15 mins, and it looks like this inside...if I go in..all will be well...and if I unlock it, and relock it...it will probably go off...but do I seriously have to check and make sure my screen goes off everytime I get out at night? I feel like this will drain my battery...!
It stays like that for a while if you leave a door open (along with puddle and trailer/bed lights). I've seen it on my new truck too, but goes away when the battery saver feature kicks in. The draw of that light is minimal, so no worries. I still charge my battery every week.
My 2016 XLT used to do this. Maybe 10% of the time. But the screen would go off in its own after about 3mins. If I unlock, open door, shut door, then lock again, screen goes completely off. Never had a problem with the screen function or battery so never worried about it.
Just so I'm clear. You get out your truck...of course..everything lights up...close the door. Lock it...everything goes off or fades. My screen sometimes stays on....for who knows how long...but I can tell you at least 20 mins...maybe all night, idk.

Yes. My 2016 was just like yours except it did maybe 10% of the time and the screen usually cuts off after 3mins or so. Get out truck, close door, hit lock on the FOB, then look back at the screen to see if that sumbitch is still on.
People who drive short trips can end up not getting enough charge from the alternator to keep up with the power drain from starting.
As for Sync, I agree it's buggy. Mine often won't dim unless I bump the dash dimmer up and down, then it will. I think some of it staying on may be checking for updates, if you have yours configured for your home wifi.
