Default +/- Toggle Switch on Column Shifter

I have a 2020 F150…to the right of the speedometer is a vertical column with cardinal directions followed by numbers 1-10. I never figured out what it was but when I was driving yesterday I noticed a +/- toggle switch on the column shifter. When I pressed the toggle switch it changed the directional numbers and I thought I detected a slight change of RPM but not sure about that. I can’t find anything in the manual or online about the connection between the toggle switch and the vertical column of directions/numbers.
WTF is it??
Thanks

it locks out gears, very useful if towing or climbing a mountain

This switch controls the gears your transmission can access. The vertical column of numbers represents your gears. If you toggle the "-" while stationary you will see the numbers decrease. The highest number is the highest gear your transmission will shift to now. When in manual mode, that switch is the means by which you shift gears

Geez, better go make sure it’s on 10 or whatever the highest number is since I don’t tow, don’t climb mountains and I probably screwed it up yesterday and left it a lower gear.
Appreciate the help!

It will auto reset after ignition cycle. I run mine (unless towing) in the mode that does not display 1-10, who cares, put it in D and go.

While I have played with it, I have only used once. Hiway speeds 70mph limit, 40 mph headwind, transmission constantly shifting from 8-7 and back. I manually locked it to no higher than 7 to stop the constant shifting to fight the wind.

It will reset by just shifting to neutral and back to Drive. I use it every time I drive, locking out 6 through 10 in order to have higher cruising rpms at whatever speed.

I bought a used 2013 years ago and liked watching the gears change but never though much about it. One day leaving work I stepped on the gas and truck sounded like it red lined (not sure) but it caught my attention right away and I realized it was locked out in second. Pulled over ,gathered myself and selected drive. Told myself time to go home and read the manual.
