Default Timing chain - replace?

I bought my 2016 F150 5.0 a few days ago. It has 112k miles on it. Is there a way to check if the timing chain was ever replaced? No service records. I do have the car fax that shows a ton of work but nothing about timing chain (or plugs) being replaced. I'd hate to take it in and find out the chain was already replaced.

Normal maintenance isn't shown on Carfax reports. Why do you think the timing chain needs replacing? That's not normally a maintenance item, and it's not on Ford's maintenance schedule.

My guess all the worry and posts on timing chain rattle prompted the question!

With the truck being used, i'm just trying to get an idea of things i should be looking at especially since the engine makes random noises.

Can you get a recording?
Engines now a days are noisy pieces of equipment. Rattles and tapping among many.

My 2.7 sounds horrible, as does my brothers silverado(5.3) but are perfectly fine engines.

I agree motors are more noisy nowadays. But my 2.7 is fairly quiet and my 5.3 was surprisingly even quieter. But a co-workers 5.3 Avalanche sounded like a 70's diesel. It rattled and clattered more than any motor I ever heard that wasnt ready to blow up.

If there isn't any strange noise on start-up (especially cold) then leave it alone. Like others have said, not a normal wear item.

This f150 engine has 300k on the motor and started to have wear on the guides, well they broke actually! Looks like consistent oil changes

Timing chains generally don’t need replacement, they usually last the life of the engine.

Timing belts on the other hand need to be switched at the 80 to 100K mileage.

Your truck has a chain, so shouldn’t need to be replaced unless you have other things going wrong with it.
