Default Throttle Issues

Hey All,

I am having an issue with my 2015 3.5L Ecoboost. Sometimes when I am driving. Often when I have been just cruising at a speed or not pushing it hard. I have very sluggish acceleration. I really get no response unless I put it to the floor. If I turn off the truck and restart it clears up and I have full power and can hear the turbo engage.

I am at a loss as to what it might be. Has anyone heard of this issue and or have a idea of how to fix it?

it has 185K miles… and no I have not… will do that ASAP. I guess I figured it was electrical because turn off the truck fixed it.

Also, clean your MAP sensors. Not saying that’ll fix your issue, but like cleaning the throttle body, this is good preventative maintenance. Especially for your gen ecoboost.

Could be a trans issue or torque converter issue. If you have the means, try resetting your trans adaptive learning. Do some reading on the use of FORScan. There’s a sticky thread at the top of this forum section.

Also, when cleaning the throttle body, disconnect the power plug. The blade will want to automatically close with extreme force and could cause finger loss, from what I’ve read. After doing the throttle body cleaning, look up and follow the recalibration procedure.

I believe it does a full sweep when you turn the key on, so that might be the reason it's working after you restart the truck.
Worth a try cleaning it. Should take less than an hour start to finish to clean the TB and MAP sensors. Not too difficult, just take your time and be careful with the connector. The red tab pulls out, then you push the black clip and pull.
Could also be the throttle body is failing. Any codes? Might be worth having someone press the pedal a few times while you watch to see if it's fully actuating (with your fingers far away).
