Default Thoughts on Cobb tuning?

I've heard nothing but good things about them but just looking for some final opinions. Cobb is local to me here in Austin and have offered to let me soak test the final calibrations for my 2019 Limited. Here is the deal they offered me. One of my criteria is the trans tuning being part of the deal.

Hey John!

We are a couple/few weeks out for the final release. Since you are local to Austin, we're wondering if you're interested in soak testing an Accessport. With helping us soak test for the F150 limited, he will be the first to purchase an Accessport for your model truck and once testing is complete, we will issue a 30% refund.
The current stages for external soak testing right now is testing the final maps and calibrations for the F-150 Limited in both performance and everyday drivability. We currently have a few in house vehicles soak the maps, and would like an external user to assist. You will just need to provide us with data logs of everyday driving.
Please let me know if you are interested!

I know nothing about them, but if I were you, I'd do it.

I had a Cobb stage 2 tune on my old WRX and never had an issue, however I wouldn't want my personal vehicle to be their "soak test" unit.

There are far better options for the F150 than an accessport.

Consider something like the Ngauge and 5 star tunes.

FWIW I, too, have used them on another vehicle. But given my experience with 5 star and the nearly complete system access they have for tuning all the variables....no thanks to the AP.

Cobb is good company and I have used the AP on my twin turbo car with great results. I probably wouldnt bother with it in my truck though. The truck makes plenty of power and shifts great as is imo.

What exactly is the "soak test"! Anyway I would go for it, Is the trans tune ready for the Limited as well? I will be getting the Cobb stage-1 one for Mine when ready and have Goose tune it up a Notch

Cobb tuning is a well know car tuner... I see their name often.
I have never heard their name assocaited with trucks, but that doesn't mean they don't know what they are doing.
I am sure it is just a market they are looking to expand into, as cars become less and the SUV/Truck takeover is upon us.
I wouldnt hestitate using them at all... they are very reputable within the car community.

So, just a final note to close this thread up.

Bottom line, with Cobb, for an engine and trans tune with a 30% discount it would have cost me $815 and some change. Combine that with the fact that it was release candidate code(not final so a little risk there) and I would have to provide daily logs.

Out the door for 5 Star it was $560 which included engine and trans tune...not to mention it is tried and true and I've never heard anyone here say anything negative about them.

I'm sure Cobb is great and the Q&A they provided was outstanding...but in the end, even they couldn't justify why their offering was ~250 more than 5 star...and that was WITH the 30% discount. So, ordered the 5 star and we'll see what happens. Hopefully it wakes up my Limited.

Sounds like a clever way to make a sale. If they were truly interested in your "soak test" they'd give it to you for free. But whatever 30% is 30% if you were going to get it anyway. Do they ever have sales?

Probably a good call. Didn't realize they were so expensive. They should be able to justify the cost (factually) somehow.
