Thinking of Tuning
Thinking of jumping on a 5 star tune, not looking for crazy performance will probably run 87 perf/tow 99.9% of the time. Had a tune on my previous 2013 3.5L so familiar with the process.
Tempting especially since 5 star is running a sale. What's the group consensus go for it or stay stock?

Looks like 5 star is claiming a gain about 100 hp and tq on the top end running 87 which is a nice improvement. According to the chart gains look to be on top end and not the bottom end where I will be driving the large majority of the time. Am I missing something?

I've been daily driving the 5 star 93perf tune for like 3 years. If you want to pay for the fuel, I think that tune is awesome. I cant speak for the power gains on 87, but the transmission tune they put on the truck is just spot on. Driving on the stock trans time is a painful experience now.
that 445hp tho

Im going to guess you may need more than just a "tune" to net 100/100 at the tires. Clearly they are turning up the boost... which will create heat and make the stock intercooler worthless.
Will that require the use of a CAI?

Numbers seem optimistic for 87, plausible w/93. CAI won't help much, as it's ahead of the turbos (which add all the heat). Intercooler upgrade will help tremendously.
I'm running the Gearhead adaptive-octane tune (ie: run whatever your feeling) and a CVF intercooler (thanks to State Farm and a deer) and could not be more pleased. They also include a trans tune, and as BP says...that's as much an improvement as the power (which is astonishing).
