I can ignore the fake wood for the benefit of having 4A. Really handy around these parts.

Same. I hate wood grain, but the black wood in the Platinum is subtle and blends in. I was dead set on a Lariat until I saw the seats and felt the leather in the Platinum.

This is inaccurate. The trucks with the small King Ranch emblem on the tailgate are typically the ones with less options. I own one and was in the market for months, so I saw the different variations.

Has anyone does vinyl over the wood? Seems like it would be something simple and small enough areas, but don't know if I like the wood or not.

The large tailgate appliqué comes with the chrome package. You can have a fully optioned two tone or monochrome KR with minimal chrome, which includes the tailgate appliqué delete.

They work quite well for me on long drives. Passengers like them.

On a 2018, the only way to get the tailgate large chrome emblem was to NOT get the 601a package ($3780). 601a was the major package for 2018. I tried the configurator many different ways and could not find a way to get it with the 601a.

Same. They seem cheesy/gimmicky at first but they make a difference on a road trip.

The 2020s with chrome package came with the tailgate appliqué. As somebody mentioned, you could order one without the chrome package to avoid the appliqué. However, most of the trucks without the chrome package that I came across when looking for a KR were either rentals or dealer orders and missing certain options like adaptive cruise, which I wanted.
