Should the half-shafts be turning on a '15 4WD when in 2H mode?

Thank you!

Depends on if it’s cold out, as per the OM the vehicle will cycle 4wd for approximately 2 miles even if it’s in 2h

Not normally, but during the "warm up", freezing or below/and thereabouts, it will at each key cycle, for about 2 miles. Since you have 4A, even in 2H, it could due to the clutch in the TC. They've been known to "leak a little" power to the front diff. Not sure if that's good or bad, just know sometimes it does happen. Key is, with engine running, and temps above freezing, in 2H, the IWE's shouldn't be engaged, if that's what your concern is.

Thank y'all for your replies! My dealer changed my front, driver's side wheel hub today, to solve a noise problem I have been having. Noise is still there, and the mechanic claims it's a bearing in the front diff. I told him I didn't think the front diff should be running in 2H, and he put it up on a lift with engine running, and in D, and the half shafts are turning.

Yep, it sounds like the TC is a problem. Did they tell you anything more about it?

Thanks! No, all they said was they thought the noise was coming from a bearing in the front diff. But if the front diff has been running continuously, could that cause a bearing failure?

I won't swear to it, but anything is possible. There have been a couple or more guys here that had a bad front diff due to some bad manufacturing. On the other hand, some guys will throw it in 4A for months at a time in the winter, and have no problems. Sounds like the dealer is trying to make good.
