Default Tailgate Step

Is there a way, or has anyone added a tailgate step to a tailgate without one from the factory? I assume its possible, am I wrong? I searched but was unable to find anything. Thanks in advance

Think it takes a different tailgate assembly, at least that's what I saw in another thread on the same subject.

ETA: Yup, found it, searched for "add tailgate step" and it was the only hit...

Found a link earlier to an aftermarket step at Amazon, only $37 plus shipping, actually has lot of good reviews. Bolts to box side of tailgate, then flips down on the side of tailgate for use flips back up and stores away against box side of tailgate. Need to drill 6 holes to mount it. See if I can find link to it.

Too much work an money in my opinion. I ended up adding an Amp-bed step. I love it. Just an option

There is also the AMP Research step:

Having had the old style step/stripper pole on my '10 I can tell you anything on the box side of the tailgate is a PITA. I removed the stripper pole and installed a blank plate instead.

Everything is inside the tailgate on the 15+ F150s instead of on the outside.

I have the AMP Research Bed step and like it. Works great.
