I was wondering about this too. I'm not seeing a keyhole or anything, so is there any way to release the tailgate manually? What if for some reason the battery is dead? Seems pretty silly to make no way to release it without power.

Do you always get out and open the trunk of your car or do you sometimes push the trunk release button on the dash (or wherever it may be inside your car)?

Yea I don't think I would want to release my tail gate inside the truck. I like to make sure it all clear first.

Call me old fashion but I still open the gate and hold it while it comes down.

...A trunk on a car goes up and not flying down to hit something...

You can also release it using the door codes + 5/6. But by the time you key it in, you could have already used your FOB or walked to the back of the truck and hit the button. Learned this the hard way when programming my codes and it released the tailgate into the garage door...luckily only the black plastic hit the garage. So, I agree with kendive, make sure it's clear before hitting the button.

You can open it with the FOB as long as your stopped, I do it all the time in my driveway.
