My 18 with remote release started doing this today out of the blue.....came out of stores twice today, vehicle left unlocked and the gate was just down. Came home, 5 mins later, down on its own. I have a recall showing for it.

I'm going to have to probably make a trip to the dealer for this. And I am having heart palpitations over it since I hate the dealership and their parts replacement monkeys touching my vehicle. I can tell them 1000 times and make sure they write it in big effin' bold letter on the work order not to do ANY work accept the tailgate and I promise you they will apply those 2 stupid recalls that I don't want done. They will probably also reset my computer and I'll lose my forescan changes. I really, really hate the dealer!

I got CSP20N03 performed on my truck after the tailgate opened unintentionally. Unfortunately or not, I was carrying bicycles on a hitch-mounted bike rack, so the tailgate didn't open very far to let out my stuff but it suffered a small paint scratch-through on the spot where it touched a bike. I did a really amateur touch-up job. With all the warning points on on this truck it seems inane that the one place you can't see (especially if you have a tonneu cover) isn't monitored.

At 70k miles I am having brake redo done Monday and while there they will apply the "tailgate fix" in addition to supposed addressing seepage from my rear main and diff seals..... both covered under my ESP. Also getting the replacement of the master cylinder done.... supposedly another recall!!??

As to the tailgate, never had that happen but having a locking Leer hard tonneau cover even if it DID try to open, it would not until the tonneau cover is unlocked and lifted.....

I will report anything I find out about the tailgate issue after the work is done.... smile.... AZPLAT
