Tailgate Opening Itself
A while back I received a notice {20N03} indicating my 2016 Lariat could have the tailgate unintentionally open. The notice for me indicates the warranty is extended for the tailgate should I need it repaired.
It's not a recall notice in my case, but rather just letting me know Ford has my back later in life if the gate failure becomes a problem to me.
I purchased the 2016 used in 2019. It is possible the notice was sent to me as a used vehicle purchase, not part of the original owner agreement that may already be in place. I'd have to go back to the July threads to see what others have received -I don't remember what exactly they were commenting on at that time.
I am in the U.S. and the truck is also a States vehicle.

Here is your 2015-2018 tail gate unintentionally opening free fix.

I did received the notice but have not opted for the fix yet, it's good till 2030 or 150,000 miles.
My tail gate had been opening up at night, come out in the morning and the tail gate is down. I was wondering how I could be double bumping the FOB's tailgate release. Unknowingly purchased a camper shell and problem mysteriously disappear. Cause only came to light with the factory notice I received arrived. I did notice last week as I was opening my camper shell, the tail gate had released but the camper shell was holding it from dropping down. Now after reading the while towing tail gate dropping occurrences, that will be my next dealer visit before towing again.

One time, I came out to find that my tailgate was down. Could have been that i accidently hit the fob button I guess.
However to be safe and not end up with a damaged tailgate I want to put some "padding" on my garage door, so that if it does come down it will hit the padding.
Anyone know of a good way of doing this?
Also its not a option for me to back into the garage!
