Default Tailgate hole

Do we all have this open hole in our tailgate? Seems water will get in there when it rains.

Yes. I think it's for the factory bed extender. There's another thread about it on here somewhere, but I'm too lazy to search for it. It's definitely there on mine.

Thanks Trevor

I have bad luck with the search engine here. I'll find the post.

Any water that gets in there will run out the drain holes in the bottom of the tailgate.

I'm not sure anyone promised that the tailgate was a water-free zone.

Does anyone have the tailgate step? I suspect water gets in around that. Did anyone take off the cover panel on the inside of the tailgate? Is there a water seal around that? I suspect not. One more hole seems of little consequence.

Yeah, I could care less about the water, but I can imagine dirt and pea gravel and that sort of stuff getting in there.

If I ever remember when I'm at the hardware store, I'll have to grab a plug. If not I will just have to remember to put a piece of tape over it if carrying any loose small stuff.
