Have a 2019 King Ranch thinking about installing a factory tailgate applique.
wonder how involved the process is?

​​​​​​If you don't already have an applique, then the tailgate is different. I bought a factory Raptor applique for my truck and removed the backing off of it so I could use double sided tape to mount it. That was 2 years ago and I still haven't put it on. Now you can buy aftermarket Raptor appliques for a little over a $100 ready to mount. I don't think anyone is making King Ranch appliques though. You need to look for a tailgate that already has or had an applique and paint to match. If you could find someone that doesn't want the applique you could just swap tailgates, but finding one the same color and with/without step might be difficult. Sorry, wish I could have given you better news/answer.
