Default Tailgate alignment?

Sorry if this has been posted or asked before. I searched but couldnt find anything except the door alignment problem.

I noticed today when washing that my tailgate might be miss aligned. The passengar side stickes out maybe a 1/4 of an inch. driver side isnt bad at all, maybe out a hair but nothing to worry about if it even is. Just wondering if anyone elses gates are like this.

Sorry about the camera phone pics.

Yes sir. Mine was JUST like this. A quick trip to Ford body shop took care of it. Under warranty.

Strikers need to be adjusted. Easy DIY job or 5-10 minutes at a body shop.

I noticed today that mine is out of alignment bad enough that the lower-left edge of the tailgate has made contact with the hinge and worn the paint off. I guess I'll add that to my list of things for the dealer to take a look at...

Just noticed this on mine this week. Drivers side sticks out just a bit & passenger side is flush.
Will have to look at the striker/pad or just mention it when it goes in for the sunroof next week.

I've got the same issue on mine but on the Drv side. I stopped at the dealership yesterday to make an appointment and they took it back to the service area to try a quick fix, nogo ! So I have to take it in later in the month for them to deep dive a bit further. They suspect that its that actual latch itself as the side with the gap is not even latching. So we shall see what they come up with.

I had the same problem on the drivers side but it only stuck out about 1/8". I adjusted the striker so that it closed flush but it became hard to get the tailgate to close without slamming it and the latch made a pop sound when it released. I took a razor and trimmed about 1/8" off of the rubber stop and everything works perfectly now.

Mine came like this too. I noticed it when I first drove her home. I was pissed. Mine was sticking out on the drivers side though. And it made a loud pop from that side when it released. They obviously fixed it but I wasn’t impressed, even less so now that I see it’s happened to a bunch of people.

I played with striker on mine and it did not make a difference. So we shall see what they come up with.

My 2017 won't close all the way on the driver's side without slamming. So for those that fixed it. How exactly are you adjusting this?
