SYNC3 Upgrade Question
Hello All... New owner of used 2016 XLT (replacing a 2002 XLT) and I am liking it so far.
I have read thru a lot of the SYNC3 threads, but have something weird to ask. I currently have V1.0. I let the truck sit on wifi for about an hour yesterday to try and upgrade. It kinda did because when I got in it the first time, the version said 1.1 and even flash up a navigation icon along the bottom of the screen, however, the truck didn't come with nav as an option. It then went BACK to version 1.0 where it was this morning.
Any idea what happened?
I have now downloaded the version 2.2 upgrade to a thumb drive and may try that this afternoon and will follow the instructions on the owners page at Ford.
Any tips I need to know?
Thanks y'all!!

Not sure why your version reverted back. I'm not typically one to force an upgrade but I did download v. 2.2 and installed. Some new features but I haven't had a chance to play with Android Auto. Upgrade was painless. Only tip I learned is not to copy the folder to the flash drive, just the files.

Regarding the folder thing... I know not to have the .zip file on the drive, but when I unzipped it, there are two UN-foldered autoinstall files, but also a sub-folder called SyncMyRide was created and populated with .tar.gz files. Do I need to pull the files out of the SyncMyRide folder too? I am thinking not.
Well that was easy
Stuck the drive in and it up dated on my drive home.
Question though - I don't see Apple Carplay on there. I see an Android app, but no Apple. Am I missing something? Perhaps I am misunderstanding what it is and how it works. If I am SYNC3, will I need a new hub?

Was there a trick to get the update to work or did you just plug in the thumb drive and Sync took care of the rest? Was the radio / nav on during the update? How long is your drive home?
I plugged my thumb drive in while my truck idled in the driveway last night. The display said Updating, but the update never completed. After about 45 minutes I gave up. Just trying to figure out if I did something wrong.
Also my truck turned itself off after idling in the driveway for around 30 minutes. I was unaware that the truck would do this. Maybe there is a setting that adjusts how long the truck will sit and idle.

As soon as I stuck the USB drive in, along the top black bar of the screen, it said: System Upgrading. About the time I pulled onto my street (500 yards from home) it rebooted. As soon as I pulled in, it said: Successful. You may now remove your USB device... or something like that. Per the instructions on the owner's site, I turned off the truck for more than 5 minutes and it was up as 2.2 when I came back later.
I did do a system reset before I did it. I don't know if you need to try that or not. Couldn't hurt.
Good luck.
