It is all about product placement, not what is best for you.

Oh the last time (a couple days ago) that Sirius called me with a "special" offer I told them I would re-activate Sirius if they would give me $10/month. I told her check with her management and get back to me if that was possible. I doubt they will stop calling but worth a shot.
My phones don't have HDMI ports?

I think most Android phones will take a micro-hdmi cable. Not sure about Apple.

The government would never allow an HDMI input and the OEMs won't either (at least while in motion), that has nothing to do with Apple or Google. That would allow motion video while in motion, which is illegal. CarPlay/AA are offered because it's what people want. You get most of your phone functions and don't have to be an inattentive ahole putting others at risk.

Even back when Ford offered the RCA inputs (MFT era), you couldn't use it in motion, even though you could hook your cell phone to them and duplicate the display through adapters. HDMI would be no different, couldn't use it while in motion, and that's a good thing. You don't want an army of jackasses glancing at the newest episode of their favorite reality show while doing 80mph down the freeway. I don't love restrictions on what you can do, and would LIKE if there was actual screen duplication, but the reason it doesn't exist is obvious.

As for your Sirius, even paying $10/mo is way too much. I used to get $60/yr when I used to actually use Sirius. They still call me and offer it, but a combination of their choices of who they allow on their networks and Spotify being better for me makes me not want to pay regardless. Even if they won't do the $60/yr, ask for $30/6 months. They tend to cycle between those. You have to call them back earlier obviously, but still get it for $5/mo.

Negative. I don't know of any phones that do.

It used to be everything but apple had micro-USB, now a lot of USB-C. None I know of have ever had an HDMI anything.

So what's this about simply plugging HDMI in to the car? Do any cars even have HDMI for the dash display (not back seat entertainment for movies)?

You misread - I told them they would pay ME $10/month.

All I am interested about is adding my Google maps to my sync through my phone without all the AA BULL****. Nothing else at all, just the Google maps. I do believe there are aftermarket companies you can send your head-units to that will add an HDMI port. I know I can get this for my Charger.

Wow like every android phone I have ever seen does this. USB-C also supports HMDI.

There are a few that do/did, but it was a fairly short term affair, the Asus ZenPhone, some Huawai phones, etc. They would take Micro-HDMI directly. Any Apple phone can use the lightning to HDMI adapter, and most any Android phone supports HDMI MHL using a USB C to HDMI adapter.

But, I don't know off the top of my head any vehicle that takes HDMI on the center stack display, mainly because it would only be legal to use while in Park, and even if it was legal otherwise, they would not want the associated lawsuits as soon as people started slamming into walls.

You're right, I did misread, I like your version better.

You SHOULD be able to use AppLink to at least get Waze without AA/CarPlay, I think it only appears if you disable AA/Carplay though. I know that isn't Google Maps, but Waze is owned by Google now and still pretty fantastic.

Why use the cars nav? Because phone nav is a data hog.

Love it. One reason I don't ever want a newer truck. I like this Sync works perfect and I can update my maps for less than $30 from ebay.
