Default Sync notification - collecting data

Every once in awhile I see the sync message about the system collecting data and to notify everybody about it. Supposedly you can turn off this function, see your owners manual.

I have not turned on sync connect other than to use ford pass.

I have searched my pdf owners manual and can find no such thing. I might be using the incorrect search terms.

Anyone know where to find this in the manual?

You need to do a factory reset then don't activate your modern. However, remote command and control from Fordpass (location, vehicle health, start, stop, lock and unlock) won't work anymore until you activate again.

So that is a sneaky way for Ford to get you to initiate Sync Connect. I don't remember a warning when activating Ford Pass. I have up until this time believed I haven't activated Sync Connect.

Thanks for the info.

Yep. The consent your agree to basically says you agree to share data to use command and control.

Why all the worry over data collection and concerns? I've never give it a thought.

Lord, look at all the GM vehicles that have ONSTAR installed on them.

Not so worried about data collection. Just tired of seeing the message that it is collecting it.

Turned off wifi hotspot, so hopefully no more message. And Ford Pass still works.

I've been seeing this just recently, the past week or two, almost every time I start the truck. I don't know what's going on.

I still have the nagging message that SYNC can connect to wifi-networks to UPDATE................ I turned wifi-notifications off. It still tells me.
EDIT: don't think i started seeing this until I did a SYNC update Sync3 3.0

Still getting the message. Got to live with it I guess as I am not going to give up Ford Pass.

Why the worry over data collection? REALLY? Personally, I am not a big fan of people collecting selling, transferring, making money off selling MY PERSONAL INFORMATION AND DATA. I sort of believe in this thing called right to privacy. Further, if someone is selling my data doesn't it stand to reason that all money paid should be paid to me or certainly a good portion else my information should not be gathered, collected, housed, or sold unless I receive a portion of that money however small. In any case this scenario is also already fully implementable via blockchain whereby all people whose information is being collected could be secure and or be paid for the use of their data. All companies that collect, store, share, and sell our data are making money off OUR DATA as if we were a commodity as well as the data we generate. THEY NEED TO STOP AND OR PAY FOR IT AND REVENUE SHARE!
