Default Sync Freeze-Unresponsive

Was heading down the road today and out of nowhere, my sync screen flipped to the main setting menu without me touching it. Then I went to flip it back and the screen was completely unresponsive. Has anyone else experienced this?

I don't know about sync but my pioneers system in my 07 doesn't like extreme temperatures hot or cold. I've had it turn off, change from sirius to my iPod and vice versa and change through channels. Once temps normalizes its fine

Any update on this? What happened when you turned the truck off and then restarted?

It came back without an issue at all. We have had some extreme temps in MI, so maybe it is temp related. Seems kinda crummy tho if that's the case. And the funny part is it happened after the truck was very warmed up.

Not sure if you've owned a Ford vehicle with Sync before but this type of thing is what made Sync notorious for being a bit laggy, unreliable, etc.

My wife drives a '13 Explorer and we LOVE it. Only issue we've ever had were a handful of glitches like this with Sync. In two and a half years of having it it's probably only happened three or four times though. And it always works after a restart. Never had to take it in to get serviced.

So hearing you're issue didn't surprise me at all. Hopefully it won't happen again.

So far no issues at all with my Sync. I actually like it, surely a step up from my 07 without.

Mine worked at -27 F yesterday. I hope I don't need it to work in anything any colder.

Blittl-good to hear it "happens" but it's still kinda a bummer. I did have the nav going so not sure if it was related or not. I'll keep an eye on it but I still LOVE my XLT.

Hey XLTHammer,

Since it seems to be functioning properly now, I'm not going to recommend troubleshooting. Continue keeping an eye on it and let me know if you notice anything strange come up in the future.

You know how your PC crashes once in a while when you try to open a folder or a 5kB png file, for no other reason that to just **** you off? Well, Sync does the same thing...

I have had the radio not turn on at all, or playing but the display shows it's off, or the other way (display shows the radio station, but no sound...), once in a while the iPhone wont connect via USB or BT, or both...

It happens very seldom, but it still happens!

Four years ago when Sync 2 was launched on the Ford Focus, it was a LOT worse. I had one, and MFT had a mind of its own at times. Ford put a lot of effort in to fix it, but still has issues I guess. That is why Sync 3 is coming, and it is based on the QNX platform which Dodge uses. In my current Jeep, I haven't had any mysterious freezes.
