Hey all,

Sync is being a real pain with the "genre" voice command with my iphone. I tried resynching (through itunes) and reindexing the device (through sync) multiple times already but for the love of me it will not play the genre I tell it to.

For instance I tell it "play genre, country" and it repeats "play genre, country" but then it defaults to what seems like some random genre where it just takes a bit of this and a bit of that and smashes it all together (like it will play a pop song, then a rock song, then classical or whatever all while telling me it is playing "country").

Anyone have this issue, and anyone able to correct it? Drives me nuts when I want to listen to one sort of music and it plays everything but lol.

I mean I can still manually pop through the ipod and pull up the genre but I really don't like taking my eyes off the road that long.

Have you checked in iTunes to make sure all of your metadata is correct. If it's not and a rock or pop song is tagged as country, SYNC will play it when you request only country to be played. Take a look through your music and just make sure your tags are all in order.

Still isn't working. Won't recognize Genres of songs AT ALL.

 

If you say that using Siri, does it play the correct genre?

 

Haven't tried it, I will do so tomorrow. But the sync has no problems with ANY other commands is why it confuses me.

 

FML...Sync...When I tell it to play the Police, it calls 911!

see if it works using Siri. If if doesn't, then it's a software issue with your phone. If it does work, obviously a SYNC issue but I would just use Siri eyes free at that point. It's a lot easier.
