Thanks for the response Acool. I was trying not to have to deal with QNX and jailbreaking as I'm not the most familiar with it but could figure it out with some time. So my initial thought was to understand the main app file structure that you get when installing updates to sync. I assume these screens are some form of movie files. If you know the names you could build your own video and replace one that comes default with the update. You could then build the image with your updated file. Again is just my thought process which probably wont work.

Well it looks like i will have to learn more about QNX. I remember reading an article a year or so ago on getting access to a subaru Harmon QNX system. Will have to find that article as it should be a good base. Thanks barrytone.

It's my first day
The NAND is not encrypted, so if you take the PCB out of the assembly and solder a few wires to the board you can write whatever data you want to it. This is how a few guys on the focus forums have added video playback features to Sync 3. I couldn't care less about it, but it doesn't seem that difficult.

Waiting for a response to my PM to him. What is the fix? I called Ford today for grins and it was as someone else mentioned. They said call the map people. Map people said they only deal with getting the program on the USB and to call Ford. I called the Lincoln number, and they were helpful, though it had to get escalated to an in vehicle support specialist. If I’m lucky, they will get back to me before the 2023 model year. There is so much less code in an F150 than WIndows or iOS. WHy is this so difficult when Microsoft and Apple do literally of billions of updates/year and most are flawless. Ugh.

"Installation in progress" and BG Map error here too! Help! Please!
ACool...can you help another Sync 3 map updater?, I too have the same issues with install not completeing and buuging out with the "Installation in progress" every third start or so and BG map Err001

Can't PM yet ???
Acool...guess I'm too new to PM...what can we do to get this fix to the update issue to me? Ford says engineers are working on an update for the update...that could be another fiasco...any way to expedite my ability to PM?

2016 xlt 302a sync3 no nav previously updated to v 2.2 build 17011. Tried to update to v 3.0. Download from ford to harddrive works ok, but cannot transfer all files to ubs stick. "Sync my ride" folder has 8 files. Only six will copy to ubs. JR3T-14G391-BF.tar.gz and JR3t-14G391-BB.tar.gz continue to error. (0x80004005). Tried with win7 and win10 computers, ubs 2.0 and 3.0 sticks (exfat format), SDHC card, all to no avail. Copy and paste, drag with mouse, no transfer. Ford customer service (useful as teats on a boar hog) absolutely no help (deer in headlights syndrome). Like my grandmother used to say "It don't work, FUGIT". Anybody have any ideas or should I just live with v2.2.
