I have a 2018 Platinum with 701a. I notice that when I start the truck it takes a good 20 to 30 seconds for the computer to boot up. If I mess with any controls during this period it takes longer. It fails to pick up my paired IPhone and has no link to it unless I shut down the truck entirely and restart it. If I use a voice command such as call bill it says no phone connected but the connect a phone will not locate my phone. The connect a phone icon is not there or does not link to my phone. The second time around usually gets it. It links my wired in IPod but not the phone. This is becoming very annoying to have to wait so long and then in some cases pull over and restart the truck. Anyone else have an issue like this. My 2015 was good to go much quicker and nearly alway paired up with the phone right away.

 

Do you know which version of Sync 3 you have? I had odd problems like this until I upgraded to v2.2

I can't remember the version number but it seems like it was 2.2, Is there a 2.3? It should be the latest version as the truck is a 2018 Platinum.

 

I have v2.2 and my phone and truck pair about 95% of the time. When the phone isn't connected I just restart the phone. Android user but probably would work on iPhone too.

 

You’re probably on V2.3 with a 2018. Do the Home+Power reset of your iPhone and see if that helps.

 

I've had this happen on my 16. What I do, on sync select phone. Then select the Connect to icon for your phone. It should connect your phone. No need to restart.

Do you keep your truck locked? I've noticed that the system starts to come up when the truck is unlocked.

 

You have 2.3, I did the 3.0 upgrade and noticed a much faster "Start" time

 

It has 2.3 I am connected to wifi. How long does it take to check for updates? It seems to run for 20 minutes plus with no answer.

 

You have the latest from Ford, there's no new updates. 3.0 is floating around, but it hasn't officially been released by Ford.
Sometimes the update check takes 2-3 minutes, other times longer. The truck will still check on it's own, if it has a wifi connection.

 

Would it be stupid to install the beta version? I have found a source for it.
