Sync 3 Nav Update
Sounds like the map database packaged with Sync 3 is already old. I don't have my vehicle yet... but can someone who does check to see if there is a way to find the date of the map update Ford is shipping with new vehicles? There should be some status screen to get that info...? New car buyers should have the right to get current maps at the time they take delivery of the vehicle... not maps that were built 3-6 months before the years model run began... and could be almost 2 years old by the time the vehicle is purchased.
It's possible that your street will be on the next update. Please reach out to HERE maps for more information.

When a truck is being built, it is installed with the latest map version available at the factory. There isn't a date available on the system info screen, but the most recent version listed is NA1 14. No updates have been released since the launch of SYNC 3.

The newest HERE map for Canada/USA/Mexico I got on my $55 (CAD!!) is Q2/2015. And I got lifetime map updates for free too. Saying that HERE hasn't the newest maps isn't true. It's FORD who doesn't give them out for their customers. We are in the 21st Century! $149 (USD!!) for a map update every 2 1/2 years and "wondering" that customers missing their street they live in, isn't anymore customer service. If you need a NAVI unit for business, don't buy a build in unit. HERE has the newest maps for cellphones and cheap Chinese GPS units for free. Update every 3 month via download.
The FORD navigation units are so outdated and updates are only available WHEN Ford likes to give them out. Ford has one of the worst navigation software for people who need/like build in units. I had one in my 2015 Mustang. Terrible! And I am not starting now with what isn't available for Canada. Selling brand new cars with 2 year old NAVI maps is a bad joke!
You see, there were I am getting lost. Car manufacturer have that much power in the industry, that a 2 year old map on a $1,700 build in navigation system is not acceptable for a customer.

Lots of outdated or just missing POIs...roads that have changed for years were still outdated on the maps, etc. Very disappointing to pay ~$700 for outdated maps that I will need to pay another $150 to update in ~6 months.
Android Auto/Car Play support can't come soon enough.

How will map updates be distributed? Via Wifi update just like firmware? Or will maps require a thumb drive?
Ford should really AT LEAST allow one free map update when an owner takes delivery of the vehicle... and if Ford wants to charge after that, it should be REASONABLE... ie. < $50 to get an update. You know that Ford's cost for the maps is SIGNIFICANTLY less than that, per end user. So, instead of using the year 2000 mentality on map updates, I really hope that Ford does the right thing here.
Thank, Shaay. So, the latest available at the factory (ie. factory where nav unit is manufactured, I assume, since I doubt assembly factory is updating software on nav units... and I assume NA1 14 is North America map update for first quarter of 2014? if so, I will be getting two year old maps on my vehicle I get in about a month.

Map updates will be available via USB download initially. I'm unable to speculate on price or release date. I recommend getting your voice heard on our Social site: Social.Ford.com

I understand that Ford wants to hear from users on Social.Ford, but as part of your job couldn't you pass along some of opinions and concerns voiced on this forum? It seems that Ford would want to "listen" via any available social network. I have read many good comments and certainly hope that you and other Ford employees pass these user suggestions along to appropriate departments for consideration.
Thanks.
