Sync 3 map update (EFC06376)
That would be me, I asked the dealership and I was told they had to contact Ford to have my Sync account reset so they could download the newest version. I also found this to be true as when I went to Owner.ford.com, it said my sync was updated as of March 19, 2019. The version listed under my Sync is JR3T-14G381-AM.
JR3T-14G421-CC is the NA 1 17 map software. The maps have to be installed by a purchased USB drive with a key file tied to the VIN. Unless Ford dealers have another method for updating maps. THAT is what we are looking for...
JR3T-14G381-AM is version 3.0.18093 of the Sync 3 software, not maps. That update is downloaded and installed through wifi from Ford.

The USB map updates are discussed in 40+ pages here: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/sync-...10997/index39/
The discussion covers from when the USB map update was first made available to when Ford pulled back the USB update and has not offered one since.

Apparently not...
I would think that if it was updated any other way outside of that usb process, it would be thru IDS no? No one has one of those cloned IDS setups never mind legitimate one that could do some poking around? Maybe reflash the APIM like it was a new blank one? Wouldn't an appropriate nav equipped vin need the maps downloaded onto a fresh unit as well if the sync software does? If so, maybe it's a 1 file for all that would contain a later version vs splitting it up like 2015 originally shipped with this ver so use this file, 16 that version so that file, etc to prevent inadvertent free map upgrades on replacements? Just spit balling here.
It would be nice if my Garmin GPS could "cast" to the F150 screen with all the features that show on the Garmin screen. With lifetime map updates from Garmin that would make me happy. Right now if I now the Ford maps are obsolete I use google maps. This is okay as google remembers the route without burning your data plan but I think the the Garmin is richer in info and that info is up to the second without burning the data plan.
SBPro... I don't know how old the EFC number is.. I only know when I called Ford earlier this week, the agent I spoke with, gave me that number. I call that "the latest" information.. now... he could have been looking at an IBM CRT Green Screen when he saw that...
I see there are no updates from the guy that gets $28 usb's from Ebay.
I am still waiting from my dealership regarding the EFC method of maps.
I do know, the more I deal with Customer Service from Ford.. the less I trust Customer Service, from Ford, for having the most accurate and up-to-date information... (same with the dealerships.)

Well... ... ... ... ...
After exhaustive research, My dealer said... NOPE! Updates are not available for Sync3 USB supported trucks, for them to download via the EFC06376 instructions. That was a wild goose chase!
I spoke yet again with Ford Customer Service, and they apologized that no Map Updates are available, and they now are saying they have no information at all, as to when they will become available, or IF they will become available.
The Saga continues.

The sad part of this whole deal is that for European Sync 3 with nav get FREE map updates. They are readily available for download from Ford.
And.... the NA 1 17 maps file is available but can't be installed without the encryption key on NA Sync 3 units. I also hear that the NA 1 18 map file is available too but I haven't found it yet.

THAT is what I am waiting for.... ... ... Honda and Garmin abandon map updates for the 2008 Goldwing back in 2012... Hacks figured out how to use Garmin Basemaps for map data updates... I have 2016 maps in my wing right now - - time for another update!
If Ford is NOT going to sell us updates, then Ford should release the keys so we can us Public generic map data to update them.
It is not rocket science - - this is the Company trying to get greedy and force us to pay for map data at 1,000% mark ups, and prevent us from doing it ourselves. But in this case, Ford accidentally made it so they themselves can't even do the updates.
