Sync 3 and Android Auto
I am pulling my hair with the AA on Sync3 trying to use Waze. It will only stay connected for about 10 minutes plus or minus. I have everything in the phone updated, tried at least 3 cables. The phone works great with Waze when not using AA and Sync3.
Any suggestions other than switch to Apple or Chevy.

Been having this issue for 6 months since new. Except. Mine disconnects fast and reverts back to the Ford factory screen. Updates etc don't help. About to go back in and if not fixed this time, I'll force them to replace the whole setup even if I have to threaten someone. Ridiculous. I love AA and waze, this is the only vehicle I have or even rentals when travelling, that has this issue. Used other Samsung phones and a techs iPhone, did samething.

I have had the same problem with my 2019 using Waze. Slight problem using the Stitcher podcast app. Because of the trouble with Waze, I have reverted to using the stock Navigation and Stitcher via Bluetooth and the Sync 3 Stitcher app, which can be frustrating as it has a "Do you want to use Ford Sync?" confirmation screen on the phone which is more distracting than when using Sync 2 in my car (!).
So, I just updated to sync 3.4 and the turn by turn came back, OK google still doesn't work. Haven't checked if it'll send messages correctly yet, but it will now call out while AA is on. Don't know if the incoming call issue with everything on mute is still there or not yet
What phone model, this means a lot with AA? Since manufactures like LG had the most issues.
Do you restart your phone a couple times a week? It is a computer and they need to reboot. This is true with the latest Google app updates especially you should have version 11.17
Retrain Your "OK Google"
Clean out the cache, each phone has a way to clear it.
Give this a try, the last 3 updates have mostly fixed the ok Google issues.
Mine was done on an LG G8 which was particularly screwed by the update earlier this year.
