I hope for ford that the new system is better than the current version. I sell cellular phones for a living and can't sell a blackberry if my life depended on it. So I am a little skeptical of the QNX software. Everyone said how amazing it would be. 'But they made software for missiles' is the story I kept hearing. Maybe they can build missile tracking software but they can't program a cellular device that's for sure.

I find the Sync in 2015 model, My Ford touch works great.
No issues what so ever yet! Have not done everything with it yet, as its been only 1 week.

She does what I ask her. Climate Control, Vocally pick any sirius station by name, Phone link works great with my Samsung S4. Also Have a flash drive just recently tested this week.
Say USB, Play song, any title thats was on my USB She would find them.
Or just touch the screen menu for any other things you need done.

I had several Black Berry's, I do not miss them at all. But their car system may be awesome who knows, But I dont really need more than what I have now. Not sure what else I need done for me through that type of system. Emails and text I dont need that on the screen of my truck.
For me its all I need as is.

So I have to upgrade the hardware too, I understand that but it shouldn't make it technically impossible. QNX solutions are used in a lot of OEM manufacturers NAV systems, Blackberry be damned, from what I can tell an upgrade from Sync 2 to Sync 3 would be worth paying for.

As much as I hate Microsoft, I'm so happy that my 2015 has a Microsoft enabled MFT vs. something designed with Blackberry. Clearly Blackberry has shown they aren't in the game anymore. Can't figure why Ford took that step, but I'm sure the MS version of MFT will work great for me for years to come. I work in Corporate IT environment. We've successfully removed all Blackberries from our environment. And now Ford says "let's embrace Blackberry?" I don't think so.

It is mind boggling. I don't mind paying to upgrade. Ford should at least give us the option to do so.

You can't compare the two. It's just like Microsoft. The software that runs MFT is completely different than the Microsoft OS for computers. I don't like Blackberry phones, but the QNX OS in vehicles is a good OS. MFT is much better now, but it's mind boggling why they made the MFT software with flash. That's the root cause of the majority of issues seen in MFT.

That's good to hear. I'm still not planning to make my purchase till the end of the year but maybe I can/should consider a '15 model that is part of the end of year sales.

Have you looked at the new software, or are you basing your opinions entirely on the reputations of the companies involved? And anyway MS has a terrible reputation of releasing buggy software and taking ages to release fixes for it.

Ford has said there will be no option to upgrade. Maybe they'll change their mind... Maybe there'll be an aftermarket solution... But most likely if you own a '15 or earlier model you're stuck with Sync 2.
