Hello everyone I'm a newbie & I'm in the process of updating my MFT sync 2 unit to sync 3 first I have a 15 EB King Ranch3.6l second my radio had a pop sound & my unit stopped working I've been reading this & other forums & have been kinda lostI placed my touch screen inside another f150 my unit workedI was then told my ACM unit is bad so i decided to buy a used 2018 sync 3 system from ebay I believe the truck was CanadianI received the unit hoping that I could swap nope still no soundI have forscan with the trial code to program what can I do to get sound back

If your ACM is bad, replacing Sync 2 with Sync 3 isn't going to fix it. You also have to understand what you are programing when you change versions of Sync, its not plug and play.

 

ok I understand that it's not ugly & play I need to program it it version 2 3 & I'm trying to update it aswell as use it for my new radio that's what I'm trying to do I'm lost in programming it if u can help thanks

 

You need to find the VIN of a 2016-2020 MY truck with the same/similar options as your 2015. Then plug that VIN into this site to get the sync configuration (asbuilt) file. You will use forscan to upload that asbuilt file to your sync 3 APIM.

Use YouTube to figure out how to upload the asbuilt file. There are plenty of helpful videos there.

 

 

I did that found files from vin I bought it from gotta get it uploaded hopefully that will work but I'm not sure if I should go get a used sync 2 & be done with this crap

I wouldn't give up now. You're almost done.

You don't want to use the VIN of the truck that it came out of. You want to use a similarly optioned VIN because it should have all the features that your truck has. I don't know all the ins and outs of Lariat vs King Ranch, but I would think there's probably some differences.

 

ok yes I forgot that this truck came from Canada and I'm US
I'll look for a similar truck from 16 that I know have sync 3 and try uploading that as built

just gotta figure out do I load the whole file or do I load the apim acm units gotta learn how I'm trying to be patience but getting frustrated just me being down without no sounds

 

if your truck factory amplified? is there a factory amp on the rear cabin wall? if so, i would look towards this being the issue

 

in what way would I look at factory amp that's causing the issues I ran a sound test & all speakers worked I've downloaded a very similar KR 2016 as built from Motorcraft
loaded the APIM AND ACM did factory reset unit just flashes radio pre sets for AM but no controls to turn on from power button I'm stumped just I don't know what I'm doing with forscan I will look into getting a sync 2 ACM & try programming it with my backup of my system and if it works I'll sell the sync 3 system
