Default Subwoofer question

I'm looking at the Rockford Fosgate PS-8 Subwoofer.
From what I've been able to find, it will fit nicely behind the rear seat in the stock sub location, and allow the seat to fully functional with no interference.
Has anyone used this in their truck? If so, how did you like it?

I'm not looking for enormous amounts of bass, just want to fill the void and add a little bottom end that is missing.

Thanks

Steve

I think most use the kicker hideaway. I have read a few using that Rockford one though. I’m considering the mtx micro because it was cheaper but haven’t ordered one yet.

Either will fill in pretty good. The difference in them is literally in the name. Kicker speakers tend to be lighter with smaller coils (to save weight), which Punch speakers are heavier with larger coils. In that respect, Kickers tends to provide good hi to mid bass, rolling off on the lows. Punch speakers are stronger in the mid to low bass range.

My oem speakers (not one of the upgrade systems) are decent in the hi bass, and just into the mid bass range, so I think Punch does a better job of filling out the audio space, but this is all subjective.

Also, I do not have either of those systems.

You'll likely be very unimpressed with any of the preloaded subs from any manufacturer (outside of JL). You'd be better served doing a separate sub/amp. I've heard the 300w powered RF 12, and it was pretty terrible, honestly. There's lots of good info in the audio subforum - spend some time there and do your research.

I installed the OEM Kicker option in my 16 F-150 XLT when I had it and it sounded Great! Cost about $475 and it sounded almost as good as my B/O system in my current truck. If I went back to an XLT at some point, I would do it again.

You can order them online through some of the Ford dealers. It's plug and play in a 16 XLT. Just have to have the dealer turn it on or do it with Forescan.

Good luck!

I'd agree, one will always do better with separate components.

JL is an order of magnitude more expensive, it better sound good.

Well that's my other dilemma ...............I have 4 - JL Audio 6.5" C2 coax speakers, 2 - JL 1" tweeters, and a JL 8" MicroSub. I would just need to get a matching C2 3.5" speaker for the dash, and an amp for the sub.

But, I read that the MicroSub in the stock sub location interferes with the rear seat folding. That's why I was looking at a smaller sub so it wouldn't interfere with the seat folding.

I keep hearing that the center speaker throws off the soundstage. Have you tried disconnecting it? You might like sound better. If not, order the pair and you'll have a spare. Lol.
