Default Struts and Shocks

I was told my 2018 F150 4x4 has a couple of blown shocks and a leaking rear pinion. I have just turned 40,000 miles. Is this likely? Seems like such a few miles for this to happen. Appreciate all thoughts

I bought a 2018 In September and the dealer had replaced the shocks before putting it for sale. It had 48k miles on it when I bought it. I was pretty surprised too. The truck looks almost new.

I had my previous Ram for 19 years and never had to replace them.

Stock shocks are built to the cheapest bidder. Put some Bilstein 5100 or fox 2.0 and be amazed how much better your truck rides and drives.

My 17 started a rear diff pinion seal leak 60 miles before the end of power train warranty. Dealer sucked to deal with but eventually got a new seal, I think it whines a little at 40-45 now but I just turn the music up and will change rear diff fluid to a heavier 140w soon. Not going back to any dealer, terrible service and the quality of work is crap. If you search the forums, seems pretty common for the pinion to leak. 🤷‍♂️

So does the standard power train cover a rear pinion seal leak?

Yes on my truck it did. Just the standard power train warranty 5year/60,000 miles.

First time they denied fixing it cause it was just “seepage” to them. Leak got worse over a week and brought it back with fluid running down the diff. They covered it after arguing with them since I was 3 miles over 60k, but I had brought it in earlier in the week etc etc dealers suck.

How do you drive? What are your roads like? Do you tow a lot? These are items that, IMO, have a lot of influence from the road and driving habits. I had a dealer replace 1 shock one time under warranty.

Update to my post ... I took my truck to a reputable muffler and alignment shop .. he inspected all shocks/struts and said they were all in good shape.
Criminal what the Ford garage is (trying to do) doing .. I just saved $1,000.
