Got it, my mistake. This is ONLY for XLs though. If you have an XLT or up, the plug works just fine, making it completely plug and play.

However, due to the size of the power wire, it's recommended to not go above 150-200 watts.

I had mine custom made. It has two 8s in it. With an amp, of course. LOVE it!

Some of these are subs with built in amps... they're called "powered subs". Otherwise, you still need an amp...

What I gather from this thread so far is the wpt1212 harness provides power, ground, remote turn on, speaker level outputs for XLt trim packages and above that must require the forscan to activate the speaker outputs. The power, ground and turn on leads function no issue. Since the OP has an XL model the speaker level wires do not work with or without forscan. So the OP had to use a PAC linelevel adapter and tap off the rear door speaker to get a signal for the powered sub. OP did not have to use forscan at all.

If any of this info is 100% incorrect please let me me know. I don't wanna have to deal with forscan at all if possible

My mistake on forgetting to add the Forscan part. It DOES indeed need to be enabled. The Forscan method is the most common way but I used a factory level scan tool that I have at work. Turned it on a few weeks before the sub install.

OP will have to chime in. I believe you have to use forscan for any of the subwoofer plug's features to work

I turned mine on a few weeks before the install. If I remember correctly the power and ground were "live" but the 6v remote turn on is only active after enabled.

anyone have photos of where exactly the wpt1212 plugs into?

would this be feasible to use with the Memphis nanoboxx or at 300w max, should I run dedicated power?

Just installed the Memphis, this may help you. The factory sub plug is behind the trim (don't have to remove it, you can feel it and remove the pin to pull it outside of the trim) https://www.f150forum.com/f30/kicker...emphis-380069/
