Default Steering Wheel

2016 F150 is 2.5 years old and the finish is wearing off the steering wheel. makes it look so cheap. I would expect that on a dodge. on the GM's it was always the ac and radio *****

Is there anything you can do to restore? any cheap solutions?

Overall love the truck- just hits you in the face every time you get in - terrible place to skimp FORD

If you are under 36,000 miles, take it to your dealer for warranty work. If you are past that, new steering wheel unfortunately. But, if you upgrade to a 2017 steering wheel, you get a real leather wrapped steering wheel. Then you wont have this problem again! https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts...eel-fl3z3600fb

Edit: Yes it is fully compatible, plug and play.

58K miles. It's not going to be a warranty covered item.

Side note: I drove a Silverado and Sierra for a combined 16 years or so. The F150 blows them both away in every aspect.

That seems like a decent option. Wonder how difficult it is to replace yourself or is it definitely a shop items?

Incredibly easy. Literally all of 15 minutes to take the old one off and put the new one on.

Basic socket set and a long philips screw driver needed.

Make sure to disconnect your battery.

I upgraded my '16 XLT steering wheel to a Raptor steering wheel after 30k miles....I can honestly report after the swap the steering responds noticeably better in turns and corners .... but I dont know why.

guessing maybe because its a little bit smaller than stock XLT steering wheel?

I find this interesting - I know....get a life....

I think this comes from the oils that come off our body and hands. This past summer I was working with my rifles. After about a week on the rack I noticed some rust in some places. After inspecting them I found the rust was only in the places where I touched them.

I attribute this to all the nasty medications I take for my RA. I suppose the same thing can happen to stuff like our steering wheels. Oils on our hands can be quite acidic as I found out.

I changed out my Lariat wheel at 8k miles for a Platinum wheel. Indeed, it took less than fifteen minutes and the Platinum wheel is much nicer in quality. If anyone wants the Lariat wheel, shoot me a PM...mint shape.
