Default steering issue

Have a 15 supercrew lariat 4wd ecoboost. driving down the road I have to fight the steering to get it to turn. It's like the power steering is acting up, then goes away.Even worse when you are towing something. Anyone else have this issue.

Need more information,, you have the lane departure? What speed? Keeping it going straight on the highway or turning on city streets?

no lane departure. live in Tennessee and roads are really curvy. have to actually turn steering wheel with both hands as it wont go back to center after coming out of a curve. not hard to turn but really dangerouse at high speeds. lasted 25 miles today. then went back to working just fine

That's got to be scary!! There is a TSB out for steering but don't think it was for your problem.. Mine doesn't act strange I just find the wheel hard to move on the expressway to keep it between the lines.. I don't care for this new electric computer controlled steering..

I think if I was you I would take it to the dealer to see if they can find anything maybe do the updated program and to get it on record.

There is a temp sensor on the steering pump that cuts it back if overheated.. Was it hot out and you were doing a lot of turning?
