Default Start/stop & traffic

I have a commute that makes me have to deal with LA traffic everyday. Will the stop/start get annoying? Does anyone have this situation?

Personally I find an engine that continues to run will have better longevity than one that turns on and off constantly.

This applies for alot of machinery.

Tough call with that much starting and stopping. It might get on my nerves a little if it were frequent. My commute is about 15 miles with a couple of long stoplights and an occasional train crossing, so the auto shut-off doesn't bother me.

I kind of like the feature, but in all honesty, I'd like my truck just as much without it.

If you like the 2.7, you can always shut off the feature, but you'll have to do it each time you start your commute. It's just a button push.

I must be the only 3.5TT owner that wishes his truck had the start/stop feature. I work almost completely out of my truck and am in a lot of start/go/idling situations.

Conceptually may have been worth considering, in reality just not for me. Speaking for myself only seems more of a nuisance! Each time you get in you have to push a button to deactivate! Dumb, why not be able to select this feature as a vehicle operating parameter?

If you like it use it, if not deactivate and no more worries!

Seems Ford engineering really in left field, with the truck talking and telling the driver to put both hands on the steering wheel, sorry both hands are on the wheel, then telling you to stop and rest, sorry just up and on the way to work.

My opinion all these magic features should be an on or off, switch function, and not each time you put a key into your ignition.

Happy for all of you who like those features, but I for one will not purchase one of these trucks until they design a truck like a truck, not a computerized eco vehicle!

Nope you're not the only one. I take and pick up my daughter from school and it's traffic light hell. I average about 13.5mpg because of all the idling. Id love that feature on my 3.5tt.

Default Start/stop & traffic

Nighthawk, it can definitely be annoying at times. Never been to LA but stop and go all day could be painful. That being said, remember you have to be at a complete stop with the brake fully depressed to activate the auto stop. You can press the brake enough to stop the vehicle but not activate the auto stop. Just takes a bit of practice to master the pedal. Like others said you can also press the button each time you start the truck to deactivate it.
The thing I dislike about the auto stop the most is if you have the AC blasting and it auto stops the AC keeps going just at a reduced fan speed. Can make hot days painful til that light changes or traffic starts moving.
However, if mpgs are a concern the 2.7 is the way to go! Getting 20mpg so far. Only put in 3 tanks of gas so far and the mpg average keeps going up every time.

Something tells me there's a reason it defaults to on no matter what. That way the EPA can't claim it's an eco option and run the mpg tests with it off.

I know my Accord had an eco button bUT defaults to "normal" when I get in the thing. Consequently the guvmnt didn't run the mpg test in eco mode. I could be wrong but this makes sense even to me.

I agree with you about the owner should be able to decide about vehicle parameters. I hate the feature myself. I turn it off every time I remember it!

If I have the AC on and it's warm enough the auto stop doesn't engage. But if it does there's a point where the engine will re-start. (Phoenix, AZ, temps around 100F.)
