Default Splash guard

On my 2013 xlt there is a splash guard behind the middle opening in the bumper. Ecoboost models have an intercooler there. On the 2015 there is no splash guard which allows winter road elements to cover lower half of engine. Why did they remove this rubber guard?

I've been wondering the same thing... why they left a big gaping hole on the bottom of the engine bay is completely beyond me?

There are aftermarket skid plates available to fill in the gap.

I was referring to the opening at the front of the bumper not underneath.

Ohhh ok, well this giant hole still bugs the crap outta me! The last gen had a rubber diaper that closed this up. I intend to fabricate something so I'm not getting sand, salt and all the other winter goodies up into the engine bay and on the belts and such.

They only fit on stock suspension (and maybe leveled) trucks. Doesn't work with lifted ones

Yes, the rubber diaper, that is what I am referring to. Why would they remove that. Seems very simple, inexpensive and makes sense.
