I figured you all would get a kick out of this. Local dealer technician told me the 2015's readjust on their own! haha crazy... This question has now given me at least 5 different answers, but I do believe this one to be absolutely false!

dealer told me that the '15s computers are locked and that recalibration is not possible at this moment.

Anyone know anything about that?

Question with a question...Do you think Ford is switching out computers when different tires are selected? Probably not.

The "recalibration not possible" statement is flubbery. It's mainly smoke just to scare people into not tuning their vehicles (they don't just say it for the 2015 F-150). The new ECU's do now track updates, so a Ford tech can see if the computer has been retuned and thereby will know if it's been messed with outside of the Ford dealership. This could potentially lead to warranty squabbles or denial of service in the event of problems.

Personally, if your Ford dealership is telling you they can't make the change for new wheel sizes, I'd politely say "thank you, I'll ask elsewhere" and go to another dealership.

good logic

but, the tech stated that the ECU's are mapped to the specific wheel/tire combo at the factory, and it is then locked.

I agree with you, seems crazy to not be able to select the available tire/wheel combos available.

The whole story seemed odd, and I pushed back a bit. But it does all seem like a well fabricated story. Maybe, they truly believe that, maybe they are lying. Who knows. I was going to buy the new tires from them, lol.

Interesting because my dealer also told me it was not possible yet on a 2015. Would it be possible for,you to post the steps to get this done?

Thanks for your expertise!

Normally yes, it would be easy peasy, but I'm actually on parental leave from work right now, after having a little baby girl. So I won't be back at the dealership till June....which is why I have lots of time to post right now!

so what is the bottom line in getting speedo re-calibrated? See if your dealer will do it- sounds like chances are slim or get a TUNE? There must be a something????
